Privacy policy

This policy explains how the Data Science Python Playground website and the Data Playground iPhone/iPad app handle information.

1. Who is responsible

Data Science Python Playground is maintained by Elijah Ang.

2. Information the service may process

When you use the playground, it may process or create:

• Bundled CSV files, dataset values, Python code, notebook inputs, model settings, charts, and generated results.
• Code drafts and bundled dataset text saved locally for the selected setup, plus temporary in-memory working state needed to keep the current screen functioning.
• Messages and contact details that you voluntarily send to support.

The current design processes bundled datasets and in-session analysis locally in the browser or app web view. They are not sent to a project-operated server by default. This will be re-checked whenever the native app or a third-party SDK changes.

3. How information is used

Information is used to run data-analysis and machine-learning examples, display tables and charts, provide learning guidance, create CSV or chart exports when you request them, and respond to support messages.

The current product does not require user accounts and does not include analytics or cross-app tracking.

4. Storage and retention

Data Playground starts with an empty notebook each time it opens; copy code you want to keep before leaving. Machine Learning code drafts and bundled dataset text save automatically on this device for each setup. Python variables and results are temporary and reset when you reopen the workspace. CSV and chart exports are created only when you choose them through the browser or native share sheet. There is no account, cloud synchronisation, analytics or project-operated storage for analysis work.

Please do not enter confidential, regulated, or personally identifying information unless you are authorised to process it.

5. Network requests and third parties

The browser version uses local fonts but may request the Python runtime and package resources from third-party hosts. It may also open external dataset-source links. Those providers may receive ordinary technical request information, such as an IP address and browser or device information, under their own policies.

The native app is intended to bundle or reliably cache required runtime assets and should not depend on the live GitHub Pages URL. External websites opened from source links remain subject to their own privacy policies.

6. Advertising

The website is being prepared for Google AdSense review. Advertising remains disabled while approval, consent and placements are being configured. AdMob is for a separate future native-app release; its signup alone does not enable website ads.

A link with ?ads=off selects ad-free mode for this browser tab and carries that preference through internal page links. The preference uses session storage, not an account or saved notebook. ?ads=on clears it; this does not grant advertising consent. Ad-free mode will prevent the site's advertising scripts from loading, rather than merely hide ad boxes. It does not disable hosting or Python-runtime network requests.

Advertising is not enabled on the current website or native build. Google AdMob has been selected for a possible future app release, initially limited to non-blocking banner placements. The SDK will not be added until the account, test ad units, consent flow, and final data disclosures are configured.

Curated dataset contents, Python code, model inputs, and learning activity should not be used to target advertisements. If an ad SDK later introduces identifiers or personalised advertising, the app will add the required permission and consent choices before enabling that behaviour.

7. Sharing and sale

We do not intentionally sell or rent analysis data. You may choose to share an exported file or chart through the browser, Files app, or system share sheet. That sharing is controlled by you and the destination you select.

8. Children

The service is intended as a general-audience educational tool and is not specifically directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If the audience or advertising configuration changes, this policy and the store disclosures will be reviewed.

10. Security

Reasonable measures will be used to protect the project and its release infrastructure. No internet-connected software can guarantee absolute security. Keep your device and operating system updated, and only use data you are authorised to process.

11. Changes to this policy

We will update this page when the service’s data flows, native dependencies, advertising setup, persistence model, or support process changes. The effective date above will be updated when a revised policy is published.

This page is the initial public policy copy for the GitHub Pages site. It will be reviewed again before the native app is submitted to the App Store and whenever advertising is enabled.
